REVIEW: Child not bride is a Nigerian movie that teaches parents the effects of child marriage. It shows both the physical and psychological effects of child marriage as well as teenage pregnancy on a child.
The storyline of this movie was very good which when coupled with a great cast made the movie alive. The main actors in this movie were amazing, especially Dami the teenage bride. She was able to portray the character in a way that makes you emotionally attached to her and she must be commended for that. Also, the mother (Liz Benson) and Alhaji( Jide Kosoko) played their roles very well which led to the movie being a great movie.
Although the movie had all these good things going on for it, there were some errors. Firstly, the supporting actresses were sloppy in playing their roles. They displayed very poor performances especially the doctor and the teacher who came to tell Dami’s mother of her scholarship.
Secondly, I couldn’t help but notice that Dami had on only one hair style through out the movie; from beginning of the movie to when she died from child birth.
Lastly, I think the aftermath of Dami’s death was not given enough coverage. We should have been shown how the parents and alhaji dealt with her death. Especially after hearing that she was given a scholarship because of her outstanding performance in her Junior WAEC.
CONCLUSION: Generally, the movie is a great movie. Apart from the few errors every other thing was great. It is definitely a movie I would recommend.
