Kunle (O.C Ukeje) and Lola (Tana Egbo-Adelana) are coworkers who have a sexual relationship. Kunles mom keeps disturbing him to get married but he says he has not found the right girl, whereas he is a playboy and wants to be a freeman. Lola claims she is incapable of loving any man and that she cherishes her freedom even after Kunle suggested that they fit to get married because of what they have in common. Kunle is eventually forced by his mother to get a maid who goes by the name Idong (Nsikan Isaac). Kunle needs someone to follow him as his girlfriend to a business meeting dinner but being the player that he is, none of his exes agree to follow him and he is forced to go to the dinner with his maid, Idong, who is unsophisticated and illiterate. Will Kunle end up with sophisticated and literate Lola or the unsophisticated and illiterate maid, Idong?

EXTREME LONG SHOT
I actually love the title of the movie GLASS SLIPPERS, its catchy and make people want to watch it although it already made the movie kind of predictable being that the “glass slippers” has to do with the grass to grace Cinderella story where there is a rich girl, rich guy and poor girl then the rich guy ends up with the poor girl.
Kudos to the cast, they played their roles really well, they portrayed their individual professional acting skill. O.C Ukeje was the perfect person for his role as a playboy. Tana Egbo-Adelana who played the role of Lola did well. The audio quality was very good and the music (though it’s not a popular song) was nice too.
I love the scenes where Kunle and the maid were together, though I felt Lola’s pain at some point but I still preferred Kunle and Idong (Nsikan Isaac) ending up together. The parts where the maid, Idong was trying to learn English and good composure was really funny with her attitude and all.
Though the maid, Idong, got too comfortable in the house in the sense that the next day after she got into the house she already started sitting to watch T.V, started dancing, exercising in the sitting room. How can a maid portrayed to be a good girl do these things just sleeping one night in the house? Personally, I don’t think it’s quite realistic for Idong who came into the house not knowing how to speak correct English and compose a simple sentence learnt all that good and well composed English in just three days. Well, I feel someone else could have acted her role better. Kunle has a sister but their mother showed no mother to daughter bond. They didn’t even talk at all.
My favorite quotes in the movie were made in two places. First was when Kunle and Lola had a little argument in the office after she found out that he was sleeping with Idong. Kunle said “its better you get used to her being in my life and return to friendship mode or you can jump in a damn lake”. That was kind of harsh though. Also towards the end when his mom came to his house for the second time, complaining about him falling in love with his house help, he said, “she may have come into this house as a house help but she is worth twice every other girl that you have sent to me”. When he said that I actually felt the gravity of love he had for Idong.
But then I like the fact that Kunle fought for the one he loved, he didn’t back down even after all the insults showered on her and the ill things Lola and his mother said.
The movie was just trying to close the gap between the rich and the poor and how possible it is for one to be able to fall in love with whomever, not judging or minding their class or status and it’s just teaching us to fight for what we want, for who we love not minding what people say or think.
Nevertheless, this movie is a beautiful romantic movie and I bet any one in Idong’s shoes would have been so happy and hopeful watching this movie. She was just lucky because she must have never imagined that story as part of her life. This movie is a must watch and is recommendable for anyone at all.
